I need to get back into the mighty swing of things at school. I came home briefly this weekend because on my calculations I can't come home during the month of February at ALL due to The Visit run crew and the beginning of Cinderella rehearsals. Gah. No homesickness allowed. *beats self up about it* Not allowed. I'm going to be busy and it's going to be great. I have interesting, exciting classes (with a helluva lot of reading homework unfortunately), a good job in the costume shop (I learn new stuff every day there and it's flexible and it's in my building and it's low pressure thank GOD), a lot of good friends, I'm GOING to be in rehearsals for Cinderella as soon as The Visit is over with, and that in itself is going to be an adventure... so I can't be homesick. And I can't be distracted and I can't be... pouty or blah or whatever.

*palmface* Not. Allowed.

I had a dream last night that I was at a summer camp for theatre on the Loyola campus but I didn't know anyone there except Mo (who didn't talk to me for some reason?) and Kyle (who was too squirrelly for his own good, of course). We went to "choir time" but it was set up like a band room and the counselor or whatever was like "okay, everybody do vocal and physical warm ups," and who walks in as we begin but Stephen Sondheim. He sits down and watches, listens, takes pictures of us doing dance-ish warm ups. We're all freaking out, of course. He gets up on the stage thing with us and says "Okay. Everyone grab a folder and we'll start intrumentating this... Annette, you take the piano," he says, pointing to me. I don't bother correcting him on my name, instead I manage to hoarsely whisper "I don't play piano." He stops, looks at me, kind of laughs (but not quite condescendingly) and says, "Well, then you're the only person here who doesn't." I make this sort of horrified croak sound and go, "I know." He laughs, kindly, and gives me a sheet that says "percussion". The music is for Company. We all split up in the sections and he hands control back over to the counselor while he watches/listens again. We start playing "Side by Side by Side/What Would We Do Without You?". And it's good. I'm playing triangle and cymbals and supposedly (according to the sheet) bells, which I choose to ignore. Sondheim is just chilling there, nodding and listening and watching. I want so badly to go to him and ask his help on "Getting Married Today" but we're busy playing the song and singing at the same time and I'm horrified he won't talk to me or something stupid like that. *scratches head*

Bargh. Dad bought me the dvd's of Sondheim's Passion and the Sweeney Todd concert version with LuPone and Hearn and a kajillion other awesome people. *spazzes out* We watched Passion last night and, of course, I am dying to do the show. :\ Have been since I heard the music this summer for the first time. Gah. Going to watch Sweeney soon. Also bought The Importance of Being Earnest cause it's a cute movie adaptation, duh.

Sigh. Flail. Flop.

Second semester is going to be fun.

Tuesday/Thursday classes are Acting (with NAN... and Meghantwin and KYLE OMFG) 9:30-11:20... then Anthropology 101 (my professor's name is Anne Grauer... how !#*(&!$ing weird is that) from 11:30-12:45... then Women & Religion: India and Abroad from 2:30-3:45. Which means I need to start sleeping better or taking a nap right after lunch and right before W&R. Doable. Very doable.

Monday/Wednesday classes are UCWR (writing seminar, lame but easy I hope?) 10:25-11:15... then History 102 (YES) from 11:30-12:20. On Fridays, I will have UCWR same time and a discussion group for History 102 from 12:35 to 1:45, and then my voice lesson is at 2:45.

This leaves most of my afternoons very much wide open. Which is good. I am doing work study in the costume shop (which is in the basement of Mertz, my building... talk about convenience) and it's very flexible. I'm signed up right now for about six hours a week, Mon/Tues/Wed. We'll see about expanding that once I get into the swing of things, though, since I do need the money.

AND of course I'm doing practicum... scenic run crew for "The Visit" (which means I'll be hanging out during the show, doing some work here and there, and being with all of my loves from Midsummer that are in it) and then I'll be in rehearsals for "Cinderella" starting late February I believe... So excited. GRETEL, bitches. That's right.

And KYLE is here. Finally. He's one floor below me. It's surreal and wonderful.

I feel reeeeeally good about everything. Things are good. Things are right.

i got broadway mail today! :D sean mccourt wrote me back. he sent me a playbill (JLT/george hearn/shoshana-era, so those three plus carole shelley and bill youmans still in the cast) signed on the front in silver: "to aly, love, sean mccourt" and on the inside near his cast picture, phillip spaeth signed too! i was like WTF RANDOM but he's cute... so... :P i was like bonus points! and he sent me a little 5x7 color photo of him and michelle federer in costume (the shiz scene) signed in silver "to aly, thank you for your note! love, sean mccourt".

mom got me up early today so i could see the movie cast of "rent" on the today show. "seasons of love" and "what you own". they were good. i'm looking forward to the movie, since i've never seen the stage show and there's no tour anymore. woe. BUT omggggg idinaaaaaaaaa. she looks *SO GOOD*. i miss her. i miss her so much. *curls into ball* she's doing a concert series this month in massachusetts. places i used to live ten, thirty, forty-five minutes away from. holy 'not fair'. mom even said she tried to see if we could go, but airlines are like "HI WE'RE EXPENSIVE NOW" and the dates are all intertwiny with irish fest and band camp. I HATE AUGUST. *cries.* *missesidina.* and the "rent" movie won't come out in milwaukee till the 23rd of november. instead of the 11th. which it is in new york and l.a. HOLY 'UNFAIR'.

after long deliberation and comparison and extensive research *pushes glasses up nose, shuffles papers* i have come to the ~~conclusion~~ educated guess that i have the same green nail polish as ana gasteyer.

...needless to say, tomorrow after driver's ed, my nails will no longer be without color. the question is, fingers or toes? i usually do toes... i haven't done fingers for a whiiile. but. hm. i will debate and alert you to my decisions.

also, meg and i were really really really REALLY REALLY bored today. so we drove to drew's and bought white t-shirts and crayola fabric markers and iron-on sparkly silver letters. we both now have dorky awesome hand-made t-shirts. they say "I ♥ WICKED" on the front and on the back of meg's it says "Not Everyone Can Come And Go By Bubble" and on the back of mine it says "So if you care to find me, LOOK to the WESTERN SKY, as someone told me lately: EVERYONE DESERVES THE CHANCE TO FLY!" and on both of ours at the bottom on the back it has the dates we've seen the show.

i'm totally not ashamed. i feel like an idiot, because it's ridiculous and stupid and lame and i wonder when i'll ever wear it, but i'm a happy idiot, because i love my life (thanks to wicked) and the shirt looks cool because i wrote in different sizes and shapes so it's neat aesthetically. for a hand made t-shirt.

*ahem.* yes i'm a huge dork. i love it too much to be ashamed.

in other news, meg and i want to go back and lotto next week sometime, since this is my last week of driver's ed. and stuff. oh and comment if you're interested in being involved in a partay group for ana's last day, whenever it be (hopefully not for a looong time).
