I need to get back into the mighty swing of things at school. I came home briefly this weekend because on my calculations I can't come home during the month of February at ALL due to The Visit run crew and the beginning of Cinderella rehearsals. Gah. No homesickness allowed. *beats self up about it* Not allowed. I'm going to be busy and it's going to be great. I have interesting, exciting classes (with a helluva lot of reading homework unfortunately), a good job in the costume shop (I learn new stuff every day there and it's flexible and it's in my building and it's low pressure thank GOD), a lot of good friends, I'm GOING to be in rehearsals for Cinderella as soon as The Visit is over with, and that in itself is going to be an adventure... so I can't be homesick. And I can't be distracted and I can't be... pouty or blah or whatever.

*palmface* Not. Allowed.

( I had a dream last night that I was at a summer camp for theatre on the Loyola campus... )

Bargh. Dad bought me the dvd's of Sondheim's Passion and the Sweeney Todd concert version with LuPone and Hearn and a kajillion other awesome people. *spazzes out* We watched Passion last night and, of course, I am dying to do the show. :\ Have been since I heard the music this summer for the first time. Gah. Going to watch Sweeney soon. Also bought The Importance of Being Earnest cause it's a cute movie adaptation, duh.

Sigh. Flail. Flop.

Second semester is going to be fun.

Tuesday/Thursday classes are Acting (with NAN... and Meghantwin and KYLE OMFG) 9:30-11:20... then Anthropology 101 (my professor's name is Anne Grauer... how !#*(&!$ing weird is that) from 11:30-12:45... then Women & Religion: India and Abroad from 2:30-3:45. Which means I need to start sleeping better or taking a nap right after lunch and right before W&R. Doable. Very doable.

Monday/Wednesday classes are UCWR (writing seminar, lame but easy I hope?) 10:25-11:15... then History 102 (YES) from 11:30-12:20. On Fridays, I will have UCWR same time and a discussion group for History 102 from 12:35 to 1:45, and then my voice lesson is at 2:45.

This leaves most of my afternoons very much wide open. Which is good. I am doing work study in the costume shop (which is in the basement of Mertz, my building... talk about convenience) and it's very flexible. I'm signed up right now for about six hours a week, Mon/Tues/Wed. We'll see about expanding that once I get into the swing of things, though, since I do need the money.

AND of course I'm doing practicum... scenic run crew for "The Visit" (which means I'll be hanging out during the show, doing some work here and there, and being with all of my loves from Midsummer that are in it) and then I'll be in rehearsals for "Cinderella" starting late February I believe... So excited. GRETEL, bitches. That's right.

And KYLE is here. Finally. He's one floor below me. It's surreal and wonderful.

I feel reeeeeally good about everything. Things are good. Things are right.

i got broadway mail today! :D sean mccourt wrote me back. he sent me a playbill (JLT/george hearn/shoshana-era, so those three plus carole shelley and bill youmans still in the cast) signed on the front in silver: "to aly, love, sean mccourt" and on the inside near his cast picture, phillip spaeth signed too! i was like WTF RANDOM but he's cute... so... :P i was like bonus points! and he sent me a little 5x7 color photo of him and michelle federer in costume (the shiz scene) signed in silver "to aly, thank you for your note! love, sean mccourt".
